This week’s No Time to Write Club newsletter is full of announcements—beginning with the VERY EXCITING news that our third podcast episode, “From Dreamer to Published Novelist,” is out now!
In this month’s podcast, I interview Sara about her path toward becoming a published novelist. Even though we’ve been friends for a long, long time (it will be 30 years this coming July!), I always learn something when I hear her story. So I hope y’all will enjoy hearing it too!
Special New Year’s Offer!
We all have our own feelings about the concept of New Year’s resolutions (see our upcoming January 2 newsletter for our irreverent take…), but whether you are setting solstice intentions, making New Year’s resolutions, or giving the whole concept a big ol’ NOPE, we have a special offer on from now until January 6.
Sign up for a paid subscription to No Time to Write Club with this link and receive a 20% discount on monthly or yearly membership for all of 2025!
Paid members have access to all writing sprints (great for accountability AND community) and the NTTWC chat (great for writerly support and where asynchronous sprints happen). We also have some ideas up our sleeves for events in 2025.
Want to share all the love with a friend who isn’t currently a paid member? Give a gift subscription! Want to share some of the love? Forward this newsletter to your friend so they can get the 20% off link!
Connecting with No Time to Write Club on Socials
Like many of you, we are dismayed by this whole billionaire situation. And Instagram and Facebook never really felt right for NTTWC anyway—we deal in words, and it was starting to feel like our animal picture-based marketing strategy was getting stale. (Full disclosure: that was about as far as we got with a marketing strategy—which is to say not very far!) So we are stepping back from Meta-owned products (not to mention the other digital hellscapes out there) and will focus on Substack (including Notes) and BlueSky from now on. We’ll continue to take up the NTTWC digital space on the other socials just so nobody else does, but we won’t be posting.
Instead, continue to follow us here and on BlueSky @notimetowriteclub.bsky.social.
Newsletter Housekeeping
We’re going to start sending links to writing sprints in separate, fully paywalled messages so that we can stop putting a paywall up in these newsletters. We’re making this change to get around a backend Substack setting that prevents free subscribers from liking and commenting on newsletters with paywalled content. We want you ALL to be able to comment!
No newsletter next Thursday—but we will still have our regular Thursday writing sprint at 9pm ET on Boxing Day.
What We’re Up To
Sara’s second novel, Principles of (E)motion, was named one of Elle Magazine’s Best Romance Novels of 2024. She is now eyeballs deep in revisions of her Finland novel and is fully in her creative happy place.
Tes has been busy with an array of different projects as per usual, and one of the most exciting has been line editing a handful of new entries and revised articles for Grove Music Online. I can’t tell you which ones we’ll be adding when they get through the full editorial process, but we’ve got some biggies coming up! And we are super chuffed that the entry on Anna Magdalena Bach is now live (apologies if it’s paywalled for you—that’s totally out of my control).
