Welcome to this week’s NTTWC newsletter!
Now that we’ve been at this for a month, and we’re figuring out a little more about our subscribers, we’ve decided to add some new features. Read on to learn more…
NEW! Ask Us Anything on the Chat
We are thrilled that the chat has proved to be a popular feature of No Time to Write Club so far! So we decided—while our paid subscriber group is still a manageable size—to offer an ongoing “ask me/us anything” session on the chat. Tes is a former professor and academic author, now freelance coach and editor. Sara is a novelist with two books published on a Big 5 imprint. You’re welcome to ask us any questions you’d like about writing, editing, coaching, publishing, querying, or whatever writing-related thing you might need help with. If we can answer, we will; if we can’t, we’ll tell you so! A paid subscription or the free trial will get you access to the chat.
NEW! October Questionnaire
When we began No Time to Write Club just over a month ago (!!!), we tried to choose a variety of times for our first few sprints. Now that more than 160 of you are receiving this newsletter, it’s time for a poll so we can find out what times work best for you!
If you’re a paid subscriber, we’d love to find out what times work best for you. And if you’re enjoying No Time to Write Club’s free offerings and would like to help us shape what happens next, we enthusiastically invite you to fill out the survey too (especially if sprint timing has prevented you from participating so far).
NEW! Asynchronous Participation in Synchronous Sprints
Zoom fatigue? Household chaos? Weak internet signal? Join us on the chat during synchronous sprints and we’ll cheer you along! We get that sometimes you want the accountability of a sprint but just cannot even with Zoom. We invite you to join us on the Substack chat during synchronous sprints for some real-time writing support.
October Podcast
In which we discuss what it’s like when writing is difficult—and why that means you’re doing it right. Our next podcast episode will be out on November 7.
No Time to Write Club Schedule: October 23–October 31, 2024

What We’re Up To
Sara is wrapping up final edits on her latest novel before sending it off to her agent. Fingers crossed that she likes it!
Tes is heading up to an Irish music festival in the Catskills this weekend. A few of us will be staying in a house we dubbed “Possum Butt House”—and if you’ve read this far and would like to see how this house got its name, comment on this newsletter! Although I am very unlikely to have any time to write this weekend, this house is where I had the conversations that helped me find my current book project on Irish traditional music pedagogy.
